The ultimate high-altitude pilgrimage. Stand face-to-face with the tallest mountain on earth and traverse the legendary Khumbu icefall.
The Everest Base Camp trek is not just a hike; it is an expedition into the heart of mountaineering history. Walking in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, you will traverse deep river gorges, cross swaying suspension bridges adorned with prayer flags, and sleep in remote Sherpa teahouses.
This 14-day architecture is specifically designed to battle Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). It includes two mandatory acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, allowing your physiology to adapt to the extreme oxygen deprivation before pushing to the base of the Khumbu Icefall.
This expedition requires elite cardiovascular endurance. Trekkers must provide Strava/Garmin proof of running 10km in under 70 minutes. You must also pass our mandatory stair-climbing benchmark before flying to Lukla.
Due to the length of this expedition, key milestone days are highlighted below.
Experience the thrilling 35-minute Twin Otter flight from Kathmandu to the sheer cliff-drop runway of Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. Upon landing, we begin a gentle descent toward the Dudh Kosi river, crossing our first suspension bridges to reach the village of Phakding.
We enter the Sagarmatha National Park. The trail climbs steeply through pine forests. After crossing the famous, high Hillary Suspension Bridge, you will get your very first distant glimpse of Mt. Everest. Namche Bazaar is the bustling Sherpa capital of the Khumbu region.
At this altitude, oxygen levels are dangerously low. We spend the day doing an "active acclimatization" climb to Nangkartshang Peak (16,600 ft). Climbing high and sleeping low forces your body to produce more red blood cells, ensuring safety for the final push.
The culmination of the expedition. We trek across the lateral moraine of the massive Khumbu Glacier. The terrain is loose rock, ice, and extremely harsh winds. Arriving at Base Camp, you are surrounded by towering ice seracs and the famous Khumbu Icefall. After celebrations, we retreat to Gorakshep to sleep.
